- APCAT (Alberta Police Cognitive Ability Test) Measures memory, observation, judgment, and problem-solving

Occupational Medical Exams
- Medical, Vision, Hearing

Physical Readiness Evaluation for Police (APREP)
- Simulates a real-world pursuit and apprehension scenario
- Completion time: 4 min 45 sec or less
- Certification valid for 6 months

Personal Interview
- Conducted by the Chief of Police or designate

Polygraph Exam
- Confirms integrity and honesty

Psychological Exam
- Conducted by a licensed psychologist

Security Background Investigation
- Includes reference checks, credit check, and education verification

Selection Committee Review
- Final assessment and decision-making

Cadet Training Program
- In partnership with Edmonton Police Service
- Emphasizes community-focused policing using the CAPRA model (Clients, Acquiring & Analyzing, Partnerships, Response, Assessment)

- Six months of Field Training with LRPS
EXPERIENCED OFFICERS
If you’re currently or recently employed as a Canadian police officer, you may qualify for our experienced officer program.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 2 years policing experience (including paid recruit training)
- Current or recent employment with a Canadian police agency (within 1 year)
- Good standing with no ongoing investigations or discipline
- Submission of:
- Application and Personal Disclosure Form
- Two years of performance assessments
- In-service training history
- Current medical certificate
